The Truss Mastarm Traffic Signal pole features an octagonal vertical post supporting a braced truss style mastarm, which allows two points of attachment for signs or extra signal heads. This higher strength signal mastarm can support up to three traffic signal heads plus roadway signage. The Truss signal mastarm is attached to the vertical post shaft by means of bolting the upper main arm and lower truss arm with high strength steel bolts to heavy steel plates welded to the vertical post shaft. Optional swing-away hinges allows 90¨ of movement of the mastarm to clear the traffic lane for passage of oversize loads. The Truss mastarm signal pole is available with mounting height of 20- 3" from grade and with signal mastarm lengths from 15 to 55.It has a selection of eleven different luminaire extension arms and is offered with optional twin signal mastarms and twin luminaire extension arms. The Vertical Post of the Truss Mastarm pole is available with a standard anchor base or optional "T"Base, "H" Base or Rotatable "H" base assemblies.

The Truss Mastarm Signal Pole is designed to fully comply with AASHTO requirements using a signal mastarm supported by a braced truss arm for greater strength and reliability. Its octagonal post and mastarm are constructed of high-strength ASTM-A572 or A607 carbon steel (ASTM-A588 or A606 if self-weathering steel) with a minimum 50,000 PSI yield strength. Each post and mastarm is individually calculated by Millerbernd engineers to support the precise load it must carry in the exact wind velocities specified.

Both the upper Main Arm and the supporting lower Truss arm base plates are each secured to the vertical posts using four high-strength ASTM-A325 steel bolts through a high strength flame cut, steel plate which is welded to the vertical post shaft. The standard Truss Mastarm Signal Pole configuration is with a vertical post anchor base. Optional vertical base choices are the "T" Base, the Tapered, enclosed "H" Base or the rotatable can which allows the luminaire arm to be set at any angle for lighting purposes.

Other options include mastarm swing-away hinges, which allow the signal mastarm to be swung out of the traffic lane, a rotatable gimbal luminaire extension mount, and the optional mastarm signal head mount slipfitters.
