Stainless Steel (Priced to be Competitive with Aluminum)

Stainless Steel, possibly the best material to use for street lighting poles, is lighter and stronger than any other material. With a zero maintenance finish that is highly resistant to attack by salt spray, smog, chlorides, acids or alkaline, stainless steel poles have a life expectancy of 100+ years and do not require vibration damping.

Weathering Steel

Weathering Steel is specially formulated steel that does not require any surface finish protection. Weathering Steel poles, being the least expensive type of steel pole, have a life span in most environments similar to galvanized poles. They are self healing, unaffected by scratches, chips or other types of surface damage and when properly weathered, the finish color remains constant throughout the life of the pole.

Galvanized Steel

Millerbernd Poles are hot dipped galvanized to ASTM 123 Specifications. This is the process of coating iron or steel with a thin zinc layer, by passing the steel through a bath of molten zinc. Besides forming a physical barrier against corrosion, the galvanized coating, cathodically protects exposed steel. Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where rust resistance is needed. The effective service life is 30+ years in most environments.

Millerbond Finished Steel

Millerbond Finished Steel has an electrostatically applied wet coat of a Moisture Cured Zinc Rich Polyurethane Primer with a Dual Cure Aliphatic Polyurea Top Coat. Millerbond will pass 5000 hours in salt fog testing, has 160 inch pounds of impact resistance and provides a near automotive quality, anti-graffiti finish. Our unique paint process is available in custom colors and carries a five year limited warranty.

Millerbond Finished Galvanized Steel

A duplex coating of paint over galvanized steel is considered by most experts to be the most corrosion resistant coating possible. Millerbond with its zinc rich primer is perhaps the best possible combination of paint and galvanization available on the market anywhere. This combination coating has an estimated life of more than twice that of a standard galvanized pole.

Millerbernd Galvanized poles are now galvanized on site at the Millerbernd Facility in Winsted.
