Since 1933, the Millerbernd company has been a recognized
leader in the production of floodlighting poles. Millerbernd was the first company to use high strength self-weathering steel (A588).
The Millerbernd floodlight poles are 16-sided sections up to 45' long, which required no horizontal welds. These sections are joined together by telescoping to provide pole heights to 200 feet.
A special continuous seam welding process, developed and built by Millerbernd, welds the full depth of the metal shaft section in one smooth pass. Quality is your assurance of safety, performance and durability.
Design Our engineering department will select the proper pole for the stipulated requirements, considering wind
speed (commonly specified at 100 mph), luminaire size, weight and quantity. A constant taper and factory alignment assures proper fitting sections. Design includes hand holes, wire supports, 2"
coupling at the platform location and a ground lug at the base plate. (See "Pole Specifications" chart for dimensions.)
Finish Floodlight poles are available in the following finishes: Factory finish coat, self weathering steel, prime painted or galvanized.
Material Floodlight poles are fabricated from high strength ASTM-A572 on A588 steel with a minimum of 50,000
PSI yield strength. All accessory parts, safety platforms, brackets, etc., are made of identical material. The base plates are uniquely cold rolled into a ring from solid steel bar stock (ASTM-A588). Precision
machined anchor bolt holes require no washers.
Anchor Bolts Millerbernd manufactures its own anchor bolts using extra high strength A576 cold drawn, stress
relieved steel with a yield strength of 115,000 PSI-the highest in the industry. The bolt threads are rolled, resulting in a stronger thread than the conventional cut type. These threaded ends are galvanized. Each
bolt contains two galvanized nuts for leveling and tightening. No washers are required because of precise machining of the baseplate and holes. Steel templates are furnished to insure proper bolt
alignment. Bolt clusters are also available at additional cost.
Erection Supplemental instruction sheets for proper assembly of the pole sections and for proper erection accompanies each order. Extra copies available upon request.
Service Platforms All two-row platforms are shipped assembled and folded flat. Structured of A588 self-weathering steel,
prime painted if required. Includes skywalk, access door and mounting hardware.
Steps and Pole Climber 5/8" x 6 1/2" galvanized step bolts with locking nut are attached to lugs welded to the shaft at
alternating 16" spacing. First and last steps are opposite paires. Climber assembly includes 3/8" galvanized cable on each pole and a stainless steel follower, brake and safety belt for each project.
Mounting Detail Universal mounting is 3 paires (6) of aligned 9/16" holes on 1 5/16" centers in the platform rail. Special
holes or brackets will be furnished as required.
